Add Netflix To Your Wii

If you own a Wii, you probably already know you can get Netflix streaming video right now. The ability to watch movies, television series, documentaries and more online at any time is really convenient.

First, you need to have a Netflix account.  When you sign up for Netflix, you can rent DVDs through the mail for as low as $9 a month.  All of their memberships include the ability to access unlimited streaming video for immediate viewing.  The streaming ability is what you will access through your Wii.  Once you have a Netflix account set up, go online to your account and order the free Netflix Wii setup disk, which will come in the mail.

While you're waiting to receive your setup disk, you'll also need to connect your Wii to a wireless access network in your home.  If you have a wireless router, you can set up the Wii to access the Web via that connection.  You have to set up your Wii by using the Internet Channel. Go to your Wii setup screens, and follow the instructions from there.  If you do not have a wireless network in your home, you can find out more about how to set one up from your current cable or FIOS provider.

Once your Wii is on the Net, you will insert your Netflix disk and add your Netflix login information.  There is a quick setup you will need to do using your computer logging into Netflix as well. After that step, put the Netflix disk into the Wii and click the Netflix Channel in your Wii home screen.

You can set up a Play It Now queue either on your PC or directly from the Wii. just browse through the various selections of films and titles, under headings like Comedy, Action Adventure, Drama, Family and Children, Sci Fi, Documentaries, and more. Once you build your queue of streaming video you'd like to watch, you can choose any movie to play immediately.  Netflix will download from the Web and off you go.

While the entire catalog of Netflix DVDs are not available, you'll find that there are plenty of films available which can be enjoyed by everyone.  The list of titles available for Immediate Play grows constantly as well. Having access to your Netflix on the Wii console is a great extra bonus making your Wii a total home entertainment center.
