Many of the games are action games, with battles and sword play, but also sports games such as baseball, football and soccer (which plenty of girls would play too!).  Some favorites are LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga; Little League World Series; and Mario Strikers.  Some older games have been redesigned for the Wii console too, such as A Boy And His Blob.

Some of the top Mario games will appeal to boys, including Mario Kart for Wii, Mario Galaxy 2, and New Super Mario Bros.  Superhero games are always popular too, such as Speed Racer and LEGO Batman.  Many of these games are cheap Wii games and can be purchased for discount prices, but they are also some of the top Wii games for rent too. You can save money either way when you want to play top Wii games for kids.

One of the best ways to spend your Amazon Videogame credits!

by Jeoffrey J. Levine from Atlanta. GA on 2010-05-26
No tax, free shipping when combined with other orders, and almost always the best way to maxamize the value of any promotional videogame credits that Amazon ties with pre-orders of certain games.

Nintendo 2000 Points Card

by OlyNomad from Seattle, WA on 2010-05-04
I wanted to shop for games on the Wii but didn't want to enter my credit card number that way and I trust Amazon so I got the card to use through them and it worked perfectly. I had no problems getting the numbers off it, it was very easy to use on the Wii.

What else can I say?

by V. S. Romero from Chicago on 2010-04-10
It's Nintendo Points. There you have it. You get a new card, unused from Amazon.com, and it works flawlessly. Perfect if you like the older Nintendo games, like me, and want to download them; many of the WiiWare titles are great, too. Buyer beware, though: NEVER pay more than $20USD, flat. Amazon.com occasionally sells these for $19.99, free shipping, so that's the ONLY time to get them here (or cheaper). Once Amazon.com sells out, it takes a while for them to replenish their stock, so that's when Marketplace sellers jump in and overcharge. Before, even Amazon.com sold these for more than what they were worth, but that no longer seems to be the case. If you can't find these here at their correct price, most retail stores sell them for $20USD, no activation charge or taxes. If they do add those, don't buy it. Go to another store that won't.

Definitely worth it!

by R. Grabek from Noblesville, IN on 2010-04-01
We bought this card for our 7 year old son. He was able to download 4 games onto his DSi for $[...] and he likes all four games. You can't beat that - where else can you get four entertaining games for $[...]? Definitely worth the investment and it was very easy to download the games.

Amazon scamming us again

by Robert P. Inverarity from Silicon Valley, California, United States on 2010-01-25
*** This review applies only when Amazon raises the price above the actual MSRP, which is nineteen and ninety-nine-hundredths dollars. An Amazon rep claimed in an email to me that "they can't control the price fluctuations" since the SRP is twenty-five (even though the MSRP is, according to Nintendo themselves, twenty) so unfortunately, this review is necessary. *** Has everybody learned to take Amazon's "Suggested Retail Prices" with a grain of salt yet? Because Nintendo's suggested retail price for this card is not twenty four and 99/100 greenbacks, it's twenty. Nintendo points have a very direct correlation with the value of US currency: one centime is one Nintendo point. Easy, simple, clear. So Amazon ups the "suggested" retail price by 25%, sells it for a 10% increase over the actual value of the points, and tells you how much money you're saving. Oh, those jokers.

You need to purchase Wii Points, which allows you to purchase and download games online. Points are $1 per point, and there are many games online for under 1,000 points. You'll want to buy more than one when you see the selection available.

To access the Wii Shop channel, you need a wireless home connection to let your Wii console access the Internet. Once you are ready to buy WiiWare, you can enter the code from your Wii Points card to add credits to your account. This makes a great gift and stocking stuffer too for any Wii gamer you know.

New Super Mario Bros Still In Top 5 Games

The classic New Super Mario Bros. from Nintendo for the Wii console is still a very hot seller, and one of the most popular games for the Wii yet.

Taken from an older versions which was originally designed for the early NES game console, Nintendo has  updated this game, adding levels and extra game play that make playing fun.  The Wii controller makes playing even easier.  Mario is accompanied by Yoshi on his travels, and game play is for up to 4 players.  This game is great for the whole family, including younger kids, with some slapstick style violence, such as the classic jumping on top of a character to squash it and similar actions, and it can be technically difficult for the youngest children, but we recommend this for ages 7 and up. Rated E for everyone.

Developers at Nintendo have dreamed of creating a simultaneous multiplayer Super Mario Bros. game for decades. The Wii console finally makes that dream come true for everyone with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Supporting 2-4 players in side-scrolling co-op and competitive platforming action, and featuring a mix of fan favorites and new characters, new powerups and various input options via the Wii Remote, it is destined to become an instant classic in one of the most beloved game franchises of all-time. .caption { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } ul.indent { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: -15px; } table.callout { font-family: verdana; font-size: 11px; line-height: 1. 3em; } td.vgoverview { height: 125px; background: #9DC4D8 url(http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/callout-bg.png) repeat-x; border-left: 1px solid #999999; border-right: 1px solid #999999; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px; padding-bottom: 10px; width: 250px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px; } Co-op/competitive simultaneous multiplayer. View larger. Classic environments with a twist. View larger. Wacky new powerups View larger. Gameplay New Super Mario Bros. Wii, like all the previous releases in the Super Mario Bros. franchise is a side-scrolling platforming game where players collect coins as they attempt to make their way through progressively more difficult game levels using their ability to time jumps over obstacles and avoid a slew of enemies. But although the game contain several well-deserved nods to previous games in the series in the form of iconic characters like Mario, Luigi and two Toads, as well as familiar enemies, sound effects and levels, it is not simply another trip down Mario Bros. memory lane. Taking advantage of the flexibility and power of the Wii and Wii Remote, New Super Mario Bros. Wii manages to preserve the retro experience that fans love about the series, while adding new game features. Notable additions among these include, expansive play levels and new powerups and characters, but by far the most important, and in fact game-defining new feature is simultaneous multiplayer. A Franchise First: Simultaneous Multiplayer Since the very first Super Mario Bros. game took the world by storm in the late 1980s gamers anxious to get into the action have patiently and impatiently waited their turn as the infamous 'player 2.' Those days are no more. In New Super Mario Bros. Wii players can now navigate the side-scrolling worlds alone as before or invite up to three others to join them at the same time, on the same level, at any point in the game for competitive and cooperative multiplayer fun. With the multiplayer mode, the newest installment of the most popular video game franchise is designed to bring yet another type of family entertainment into living rooms and engage groups of friends in fast-paced Super Mario Bros. fun. Controller Choices Via the Wii Remote In another nod to the series' Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) roots, the Wii Remote controller used with New Super Mario Bros. Wii is held sideways, allowing for easy, classic inputs using the D-pad to direct playable characters, the 1 button to jump and 2 button to spit out projectiles like snowballs and fireballs. In addition, players can access powerups with their choice of either the push of a button, or by shaking the Wii remote, again demonstrating the perfect merging of classic gameplay and modern game design which is New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Key Game Features New Super Mario Bros. Wii offers a combination of cooperation and competition. Players can pick each other up to save them from danger or toss them into it. Supports 2-4 players in multiplayer mode. Mario, Luigi and two Toads are all playable characters, while many others from the Mushroom Kingdom make appearances throughout the game. Players can even ride different Yoshi characters and use their tongues to swallow enemies – or their fellow players. In some areas, players use the motion abilities of the Wii Remote controller. The first player to reach a seesaw might make it tilt to help his or her character reach a higher platform – and then tilt it incorrectly just to mess with other players. New items include the propeller suit, which will shoot players high into the sky with just a shake of the Wii Remote and Mario’s new ability to transform into Penguin Mario. At the end of each stage during the simultaneous multiplayer mode, players are ranked based on their score, the coins collected and the number of enemies defeated.

Description

Launch into a new universe of gravity warping worlds in the sequel to one of the greatest games of all time! Yoshi joins Mario as they traverse a wild variety of galaxies exploding with imagination, helping out our hero as he gulps enemies, runs at super speed, or inflates like a blimp to reach high cliff tops. Whether Mario’s leaping into orbit around tiny micro-planets, tumbling through rooms with constantly flip-flopping gravity, or drilling through craggy worlds to emerge on the other side, he’ll need new abilities and serious jumping skills to survive the all-new challenges ahead!

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is an action platformer for Wii that continues the space-based fun begun by the 2007 runaway hit Super Mario Galaxy. Featuring out-of-this-world platforming across a wide array of unique planets and space environments, players can go it alone as Mario or team up with his old buddy Yoshi as they platform and puzzle-solve to their hearts content. Additional key features include new and returning power-ups, special power-up abilities when teamed with Yoshi and the new drill mechanic that allows Mario burrow into and through planets. .caption { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } ul.indent { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: -15px; } table.callout { font-family: verdana; font-size: 11px; line-height: 1. 3em; } td.vgoverview { height: 125px; background: #9DC4D8 url(http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/callout-bg.png) repeat-x; border-left: 1px solid #999999; border-right: 1px solid #999999; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px; padding-bottom: 10px; width: 250px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px; } Team up with Yoshi for space-based platforming fun in Super Mario Galaxy 2. View larger. New Out-of-this-world Adventure Like its predecessor, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is an action platformer set in space. Platforming takes place between worlds, known as galaxies. Mario can move between smaller examples of these by jumping. He can also embark on longer jaunts via a small steerable planet in the shape of Mario's head, but as a new twist he can also move into and through planets as well using the new drill mechanism. This allows for both a new direction in action as well as an opening to problem-solving and coin collection. Players can expect the return of a variety of powerups from the original game including Bee and Boo Mushrooms, but also many that are new varieties including the Rock Mushroom that temporarily turns Mario into a rock that can smash through barriers. Another key change to gameplay is the ability for Mario to join with his pal Yoshi. Once Mario hatches Yoshi from his egg he can ride him through a variety of scenarios. Yoshi's particular reaction to specific powerups makes for fun with gravity. For example, when Yoshi eats a "Dash Pepper" he is able to move at hyper speed allowing the pair to literally run up the side of walls. Also, after eating a Blimp Fruit power-up Yoshi can swells up and floats like a blimp, taking Mario with him to areas of the game otherwise unreachable. Key Game Features Mario collects stars as he travels from galaxy to galaxy. Every level is new, but the game retains the charm, sense of wonder and beauty in line with Mario's history. Mario works his way through the various levels, sometimes upside-down, sometimes floating from place to place. On some stages, Mario can find an egg, smash it open and hop onto the back of Yoshi. Yoshi can use his tongue to grab items and shoot them back at enemies, or to snag attach points and swing across chasms. Yoshi has an interesting diet. When he eats a Dash Pepper, he gets so hot and frenzied he can run up steep inclines and vertical walls. When he eats a Blimp Fruit, he inflates like a balloon and floats to new heights. New powerups include a drill that Mario uses to tunnel through the planet's surface all the way to the other side of a planet. Skilled players will want to collect new Comet Metals, which will unlock harder levels with even more challenges. Additional Screenshots: Even better platforming fun. View larger. Over-the-top challenges. View larger. Special Yoshi abilities. View larger. Explore Starship Mario. View larger.

This brings a whole new universe of warped universe worlds in a hot and intensely awaited sequel to one of the biggest games ever!  Yoshi and Mario travel through a wild variety of many galaxies that explode with incredible and imaginative environments!  You'll swallow up enemies, dash at super speed, or blow up like a blimp to get to highest tops of cliffs.

So get online and order Super Mario Galaxy 2 right now, and get delivery the day it comes out - don't miss one stellar minute of incredible play!

Where To Get Wii Games For Rent

Wii games can be so expensive - $49.99 list price for many.  If you are looking for games for your family, and don't know where to find more information you can wind up spending nearly fifty bucks for a game that is either too violent, boring, or just plain ignored by everyone.  How can you avoid paying a fortune for games and still get your hands on today's top Wii games?
The solution is to rent games, and Wii games for rent online are a great idea.  We like to use GameFly, as they ship fast, have just about every game for every platform, and you can keep them as long as you want for a flat fee, just like movie rental service Netflix.
There have been several times when we've rented a game and hated it so much we sent it back the next day - thank goodness we didn't pay an arm and a leg for something touted as the latest and greatest, but that really stunk.  Within a week, our next game selection was on its way.
One of the other things we like about GameFly is that you can choose to keep a game, and pay a reduced "used" price.  They also give you credits for signing up, and also ongoing credits as you remain a member - so these add  up!  We kept a $19.99 game that we rented, and paid just $8.49.  When you choose to buy a game you've rented, GameFly ships the box and booklet right out to you.
Renting games for the Wii, or any other platform for that matter, is a great solution to finding out which games really are the "keepers" and worth paying to own.

Blaster Master:Overdrive on Wii Ware Today

Sunsoft is releasing today the fourth part in the Blaster Master series, Blaster Master: Overdrive, available on WiiWare.  Blaster Master is a shooting-type action game taking place after Earth has been infected by a virus. Players choose to play the role of a biologist Alex and can travel around the planet in a four-wheel vehicle known as S.O.P.H.I.A., In an attempt to rid the planet of animals which have been infected by the virus.

At each level there is a mutant boss that Alex has to overcome before moving forward in the game.

Blaster Master: Overdrive is available starting today (Feb. 8th) on the Wii Shop Channel (North America) for a total of 1,000 Wii Points ($10).

Here's the company press release:  BLASTER MASTER™ OVERDRIVE HEADED TO WIIWARE

Redding, CA – February 6, 2010 – SUNSOFT, a division of SUNCORPORATION (JASDAQ: 6736), has today announced that BLASTER MASTER™:OVERDRIVE will be available in North America on February 8th for WiiWare.

BLASTER MASTER™:OVERDRIVE is an action-shooting game that takes place on an Earth infected by an aggressive, polymorphic virus. Poor, defenseless animals worldwide infected by the virus have been turned into flesh-eating, hemoglobin-swilling terrors. Fortunately, the world has Alex. And, even more coincidentally, he happens to be one of the world’s foremost biologists - specializing in viral mutation profiles and genetic manipulation.

Every studious biologist facing imminent global annihilation needs a sweet ride, and Alex is no exception. He has S.O.P.H.I.A., a shape-shifting, gas-guzzling, projectile-spewing paean to destruction on four wheels. Things look grim, but with Alex and S.O.P.H.I.A. on the case, the world just may have a chance.

Gameplay in BLASTER MASTER™:OVERDRIVE retains the critically acclaimed format of the original NES BLASTER MASTER™, alternating between side-scrolling platforming in S.O.P.H.I.A. and overhead-perspective blasting and exploration when controlling Alex. Upgrades for S.O.P.H.I.A. must be collected to access progressively more challenging terrain and a total of eight distinct areas. Each area features a mutant boss that must be defeated to progress.

The sublime blend of side-scrolling shooting/platforming mixed with overhead perspective action/shooting areas is just as addictive now as it was in the original game. The game is rated E10 for Mild Fantasy Violence and can be purchased from the Wii Store online for 1000 Wii points beginning February 8th, 2010.

As with the BLASTER MASTER NES Virtual Console release, fans are encouraged to improve their skills completing this game so they can compete and win in a coming promotion that will test their skill for collectible prizes.
