Nintendo announced there are more games coming for the Wii, but perhaps unfortunately for family and "casual" gamers, much of the focus is on the war and action games segment, where millions of dollars of revenue continue to pour in. When Nintendo focused on release of the Wii, they had many titles like Legend of Zelda and Super Smash Bros which were fun to play at the time, but development has lagged with the passing of time. Now, the core teen and young adult gamer crowd is looking for war games like Call of Duty Black Ops for Wii and action games like Resident Evil 4.
Nintendo says it wants to build a game console system that satisfies everyone, form the casual gamer to the core teen war gamer - but is that possible? The Wiidoes not have on high definition display, and so the quality of graphics is lower than other game consoles. It doesn't have the robust online experience, which many gamers enjoy playing others online. But when it comes to family games for the Wii, or games for exercise, the Wii does excel. It will be interesting to see if Nintendo can come across with a new game console that has the upper end requirements of the serious gaming community. In the mean time, though there are still many games for families, younger kids, individuals, and just party fun for many other players.

Some top titles are the fitness titles, like Zumba Fitness for Wii, and the Jillian Michaels titles. Titles were also released such as NFL Training Camp, meant to appeal to men as well, but that title was not as big a seller as the titles that appeal to women. Other titles that are fun, as well as fitness are the Just Dance games, including the new release, Just Dance 2. These are top selling games, and especially fun for more than one player to join in.
Next year Nintendo will be releasing the newer Wii Consolewith its revised controller, called the Wii U. They are attempting to bring new technology to the forefront, as well as attract back some of the big revenue makers in the gaming world. Since these releases aren't due until some time in 2012, only time will tell if the Wii becomes the casual game box by default, or has what it takes to compete with the big guns in the serious gaming world. In the mean time, the Wii remains a great console for anyone with kids, families, older gamers and anyone looking to add some fitness to their lifestyle!
