Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a great game for kids. It is creative, fun, and most of all, it is definitely a one-of-a-kind game. Your kid would love it. Mario has plentiful power-ups along the way including Cloud Mario, Rock Mario, Fire Mario, and more! Along the way, they run into a couple friends that help Mario defeat Bowser. Yoshi makes his appearance in a few levels offering the power to jump twice as high, his power to eat enemies, and his offering of separate power-ups.
This top Wii game is the next version from Super Mario Galaxy, which was also a lot of fun. While it might seem to be designed mostly as Wii games for boys, the graphics and play is fun for girls too. It's rated E for Everyone and other than some minor cartoon violence (like jumping on a Goomba's head) it is actually fun for any age an is even one of the top Wii games for families. It's fairly difficult to play some levels though, so under age 7 might get a bit frustrated.
